VP of Sales (Prolific Supply)

Remote
Full Time
Senior Manager/Supervisor

Who we are:

Prolific Supply LLC is a scaled manufacturer and distributor of consumable growing materials, and a food and ingredients supply-chain platform. Prolific Supply became the parent company formed through the acquisitions of Hawthorne Garden Company (HGC) and Bridgewell Agribusiness (BWAB).

We take pride in being a diverse and inclusive workplace fostering a culture where everyone belongs. Through employee engagement, community events, and non-profit partnerships, we’re building more than a business—we’re building a community.

As we rapidly expand nationwide, we’re looking for talented, driven, and passionate people to join us. If you’re ready to turn your passion into a career, let’s grow the future together.

What the role is about:

The VP of Sales owns Bridgewell's revenue and gross margin, leading the sales team and setting commercial strategy across every product line. Because our products are commodity-priced, margin depends on reading the market, timing purchases and sales, and managing position risk, so this role calls for a commercial leader who prices and sells like a trader, with the deepest expertise in edible oils. Reporting to the Chief Sales Officer and leading account managers, inside sales, and customer service, you'll be measured on a monthly scorecard covering revenue growth, gross margin, forward book coverage, risk limits, customer retention, forecast accuracy, and collections. This is a full-time, exempt role; West Coast is preferred but not required, with regular time at our Clackamas facility and about 30-40% travel for customer visits, trade shows, and supplier trips.

What impact you’ll make:

  • Set the annual sales plan by product line, channel, and region, focusing on growth segments including bakery, snack, plant-based, natural and organic brands, and private label
  • Hire, coach, and manage account managers and inside sales, setting territories, quotas, and incentive plans tied to margin, not just volume
  • Personally lead the top 20 customers, negotiating annual and forward contracts, pricing formulas, and supply programs
  • Set pricing for spot and forward sales, cost-plus and index-linked formulas, and freight and basis to protect gross margin per unit in volatile markets
  • Own sales contract terms, including quantity, delivery period, quality specs, certifications, payment, default, and force majeure clauses
  • Build pipeline with new manufacturers and develop contract manufacturing and custom blending deals
  • Partner daily with procurement and trading so every sale is covered by supply and every purchase has a sales plan, and own the sales and demand forecast that feeds purchasing, inventory, and S&OP
  • Brief leadership and customers on crop, price, and supply outlooks, turning market moves into sales timing
  • Work with finance on customer credit limits, terms, and collections

What you’ve accomplished:

  • 12+ years in B2B food-ingredient or agricultural commodity sales, with 5+ years leading a sales team
  • Hands-on commodity trading or merchandising experience, including forward contracts, basis and cash-to-futures spreads, index-linked pricing, back-to-back trades, hedging with futures and options, and position management within set risk limits
  • Deep knowledge of edible oils (soybean, canola, sunflower, safflower, palm, coconut, olive, and avocado) in conventional, non-GMO, and organic grades, including high-oleic varieties and expeller-pressed vs. refined, bleached, and deodorized (RBD) oil
  • Fluency in key benchmarks and price drivers, including CBOT soybean oil, ICE canola, Bursa Malaysia palm oil, CBOT, KC, and Minneapolis grain futures, ICE sugar, crush margins, crop and weather, biofuel demand, tariff policy, and freight
  • Ability to price cash-traded organic and specialty items (seeds, nuts, dried fruit, beans, coconut) using broker, crop, and USDA organic market reports
  • Proven record of growing revenue and gross margin in a volatile commodity market
  • Established relationships with food manufacturers' purchasing and R&D teams
  • Strong financial skills, including margin analysis, pricing models, and reading position and mark-to-market reports
  • Working knowledge of organic and non-GMO certification (USDA NOP, Non-GMO Project), food-safety standards (SQF), and import trade (currency exposure, ocean freight, tariffs, and organic import certificates)
  • Preferred: edible-oil trading or sales at a crusher, refiner, or oil distributor, familiarity with NIOP or NAEGA contract rules, and experience with CRM, ERP, and commodity position tools
  • Bachelor's degree in agricultural economics, business, or finance; MBA a plus

What we offer:

  • Compensation: $200,000-225,000 annually depending on experience

  • 401k program with an employer match after six months of employment

  • 18 Days of accrued PTO in addition to 2 Wellness Days & Volunteer Hours that will increase with tenure

  • Competitive additional benefits including HSA, FSA, Dependable Care, EAP services, etc.

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance on the first of the month after you begin employment
