What you will do

The Senior Accountant is tasked with executing day-to-day general accounting duties across multiple state markets. Core responsibilities encompass expense coding and approval routing, determining accurate business cost centers (cultivation, extraction, manufacturing, retail, etc.), updating account reconciliations, debit card coding, fixed asset accounting, and preparing sales/use/excise tax filings. The role necessitates seamless interdepartmental communication, routine tasks, as well as participation in ad hoc special projects, process enhancements, and automation initiatives. Over time, this role is anticipated to expand and develop, initially focusing on gaining comprehensive insight into the business and the various expenses associated with each cost center, eventually progressing into a leadership position.

This position reports to the Assistant Controller. It should be noted that working hours may vary during month, quarter, and year-end periods. Vireo is a dynamic, emerging company in a burgeoning industry, and candidates should possess adaptability, a willingness to step beyond their comfort zone, and a readiness for challenges. The position follows a hybrid work model, with Tuesdays spent in the downtown Minneapolis office.

Highlighted Responsibilities

Execute day-to-day operations encompassing:

  • Skillful expense coding with precision in accounts and cost centers, coupled with efficient approval routing.
  • Proficient identification, recording, and monitoring of prepaid and accrued expenses.
  • Thorough management of debit card transactions.

Conduct month-end activities, including:

  • Methodical amortization and depreciation of assets.
  • Diligent updates to balance sheet reconciliations and comprehensive review of all entity balance sheets.
  • Preparation of sales/use/excise tax returns.
  • Strategic reclassification of expenses to specific cost centers and location codes for internal reporting purposes.

• Collaborate on fulfilling PBC (Provided by Client) requests for audits and reviews.

• Drive enhancements to systems and procedures, streamlining processes for optimal efficiency.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 1-3 years' experience in public accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office required
  • Experience with month end close process
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written 
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment  
  • Adaptable to change in the work environment
  • CPA certification preferred, not necessary
  • Quickbooks Online experience preferred


Salary range: $75-$85k.
