What the role is about:
The Inventory Specialist plays a critical role in supporting retail and inventory management operations by ensuring in store execution of inventory management initiatives, best practices and the standardization of inventory processes. This position is responsible for training retail teams on inventory control, compliance documentation, and inventory transactions across multiple systems. Through meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of cannabis compliance requirements, this role helps maintain inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, and accurate inventory reporting across the network. As our Inventory Specialist, you'll be the go-to partner helping our Colorado retail teams keep inventory accurate, compliant, and running smoothly. You'll coach store teams on best practices, audit for accuracy, and help standardize how we handle inventory across the network.
What impact you’ll make:
Train, Audit and Assist with Inventory Accuracy (80%)
- Ensure consistent reconciliation between COVA, METRC and physical inventory across Colorado retail locations.
- Train on SOPs for receiving, cycle counting, package adjustments, package in METRC, expiration date entry, manual discount reason codes, and shrink/waste handling.
- Visit, train and audit every store in the Colorado network once per quarter.
- Compile and distribute before and after reporting verifying inventory accuracy and clean up.
- Verify shrink, aging, discount and adjustments have been made in a timely manner.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of METRC requirements, inventory tracking procedures, and applicable cannabis regulations
- Ensure all inventory and fulfillment activities comply with state regulations, company policies, and est
- Develop and maintain proficiency in all fulfillment, packaging, inventory, and compliance procedures
- Identify and escalate inventory, compliance, or quality concerns promptly
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment utilizing 5S and continuous improvement principles
- Participate in inventory audits, compliance inspections, and process improvement initiatives
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, safety, accuracy, and operational excellence
What you’ve accomplished:
- Must be at least 21 years of age in accordance with state cannabis regulations.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Working knowledge of cannabis inventory management and compliance requirements.
- Experience utilizing METRC or a comparable seed-to-sale tracking system.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a high level of precision.
- Basic computer proficiency, including spreadsheet and data entry experience.
- Ability to accurately read and record weights and measurements.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Requires scheduling flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
- Must have reliable transportation to consistently report to scheduled shifts.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time throughout the workday.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) badge in the State of Colorado.
